34 Hadith

الْإِيمَانُ بِضْعٌ وَسَبْعُونَ أَوْ بِضْعٌ وَسِتُّونَ شُعْبَةً، فَأَفْضَلُهَا قَوْلُ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَأَدْنَاهَا إِمَاطَةُ الْأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ، وَالْحَيَاءُ شُعْبَةٌ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ

Faith has over seventy branches or over sixty branches, the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but Allah, and the humblest of which is the removal of what is injurious from the path, and modesty is a branch of faith.

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.

Abu HurairahSahih Bukhari & Muslim

لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ وَالِدِهِ وَوَلَدِهِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

None of you truly believes until I am more beloved to him than his father, his child, and all the people.

Anas ibn MalikSahih Bukhari & Muslim

مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ

Whoever says "There is no deity but Allah" will enter Paradise.

Abu DharrSahih Muslim

الْإِيمَانُ أَنْ تُؤْمِنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَتُؤْمِنَ بِالْقَدَرِ خَيْرِهِ وَشَرِّهِ

Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in divine decree, both good and bad.

Umar ibn al-KhattabSahih Muslim

الْحَيَاءُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ

Modesty is part of faith.

Abu HurairahSahih Bukhari & Muslim

لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

The fornicator does not commit fornication while he is a believer, the thief does not steal while he is a believer, and the wine drinker does not drink wine while he is a believer.

لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.

Anas ibn MalikSahih Bukhari & Muslim

الْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ

The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe.

Abdullah ibn AmrSahih Bukhari & Muslim

أَكْمَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِيمَانًا أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا

The most perfect of the believers in faith are those with the best character.

Abu HurairahSunan Abu Dawud

إِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى

Actions are according to intentions, and everyone will get what was intended.

Umar ibn al-KhattabSahih Bukhari & Muslim

مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَذْكُرُ رَبَّهُ وَالَّذِي لَا يَذْكُرُ رَبَّهُ مَثَلُ الْحَيِّ وَالْمَيِّتِ

The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember his Lord is like that of the living and the dead.

Abu Musa al-AshariSahih Bukhari

مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، فِي يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ كَانَتْ لَهُ عَدْلَ عَشْرِ رِقَابٍ

Whoever says "There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things" one hundred times in a day, it will be as if he freed ten slaves.

مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ

Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.

Abu HurairahSahih Bukhari & Muslim

أَحَبُّ الْأَعْمَالِ إِلَى اللَّهِ أَدْوَمُهَا وَإِنْ قَلَّ

The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if they are small.

AishaSahih Bukhari & Muslim

إِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالْخَوَاتِيمِ

Indeed, deeds are judged by their endings.

Sahl ibn Sa'dSahih Bukhari

مَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ

Whoever stands (in prayer) during the Night of Decree with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven.

Abu HurairahSahih Bukhari

الْعُمْرَةُ إِلَى الْعُمْرَةِ كَفَّارَةٌ لِمَا بَيْنَهُمَا، وَالْحَجُّ الْمَبْرُورُ لَيْسَ لَهُ جَزَاءٌ إِلَّا الْجَنَّةُ

Umrah to Umrah is an expiation for what is between them, and the accepted Hajj has no reward except Paradise.

Abu HurairahSahih Bukhari

صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ، أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ، وَالسَّنَةَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهُ

Fasting on the Day of Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates the sins of the year before it and the year after it.

Abu QatadahSahih Muslim

صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ، أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ

Fasting on the Day of Ashura, I hope from Allah, expiates the sins of the year before it.

Abu QatadahSahih Muslim

كُلُّ بِدْعَةٍ ضَلَالَةٌ، وَكُلُّ ضَلَالَةٍ فِي النَّارِ

Every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.

Jabir ibn AbdullahSahih Muslim

آخِرُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ رَجُلٌ يَمْشِي عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ، فَهُوَ يَمْشِي مَرَّةً وَيَكْبُو مَرَّةً وَتَسْفَعُهُ النَّارُ مَرَّةً

The last person to enter Paradise will be a man walking on the Bridge, walking at times, stumbling at times, and being scorched by the Fire at times.

Abdullah ibn MasudSahih Muslim

ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا تُرَدُّ دَعْوَتُهُمْ: الصَّائِمُ حَتَّى يُفْطِرَ، وَالْإِمَامُ الْعَادِلُ، وَدَعْوَةُ الْمَظْلُومِ

There are three whose dua is not rejected: the fasting person until he breaks his fast, the just ruler, and the dua of the oppressed.

Abdullah ibn AmrJami at-Tirmidhi

خَيْرُ الدُّعَاءِ دُعَاءُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ، وَخَيْرُ مَا قُلْتُ أَنَا وَالنَّبِيُّونَ مِنْ قَبْلِي: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ

The best dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah, and the best that I and the Prophets before me have said is: There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner.

Amr ibn ShuaybJami at-Tirmidhi

مَنْ قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، فِي يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ، كَانَتْ لَهُ عَدْلَ عَشْرِ رِقَابٍ

Whoever says "There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is able to do all things" one hundred times in a day, it will be equivalent to freeing ten slaves.

الِاسْتِغْفَارُ سَيِّدُ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ: اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ

The master of seeking forgiveness is to say: O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant.

Shaddad ibn AwsSahih Bukhari

مَنْ قَالَ: سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ حُطَّتْ خَطَايَاهُ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ مِثْلَ زَبَدِ الْبَحْرِ

Whoever says "Glory be to Allah and all praise is to Him" one hundred times a day, his sins will be wiped away even if they are like the foam of the sea.

Abu HurairahSahih Bukhari & Muslim

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ تَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

Say: He is Allah, the One - it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.

Abu Said al-KhudriSahih Bukhari

مَنْ حَفِظَ الْأَسْمَاءَ الْحُسْنَى دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ

Whoever memorizes and acts upon the Beautiful Names of Allah will enter Paradise.

خَيْرُ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى

The best provision is piety (Taqwa).

Ibn AbbasQuran

لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ كَنْزٌ مِنْ كُنُوزِ الْجَنَّةِ

There is no might nor power except with Allah is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.

Abu Musa al-AshariSahih Bukhari & Muslim

مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ غُسْلَ الْجَنَابَةِ ثُمَّ رَاحَ، فَكَأَنَّمَا قَرَّبَ بَدَنَةً

Whoever takes a bath on Friday like the bath for ceremonial purity and then goes for the prayer, it is as if he had sacrificed a camel.

Abu HurairahSahih Bukhari & Muslim

مَنْ قَالَ: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا، إِلَّا آجَرَهُ اللَّهُ فِي مُصِيبَتِهِ وَأَخْلَفَ لَهُ خَيْرًا مِنْهَا

Whoever says "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better," Allah will reward him in his affliction and replace it with something better.

Umm SalamahSahih Muslim

مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، وَأَنَّ عِيسَى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِنْهُ، وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ، وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ، أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى مَا كَانَ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ

Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, and that Jesus is the servant of Allah and His messenger and His word which He bestowed on Mary and a spirit from Him, and that Paradise is true and Hell is true, Allah will admit him to Paradise regardless of what deeds he did.
